The second group will remain heavily manual, dependent on staff knowledge, spreadsheets, and reactive claim follow-up.

The first group may become more valuable. The second may face margin pressure, client pricing pressure, and buyer concern.

AI will not replace experienced RCM operators. But it will likely reduce the value of companies that are built primarily around manual labor rather than scalable processes.

From an M&A perspective, scalability is the conversation buyers keep returning to. If revenue can only grow by adding people in proportion, scalability is limited — and so is the multiple a buyer is willing to pay.
